CineClub's second offering of 2026 presents HAMNET, the Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture – Drama and a nominee for eight Academy Awards. Chloé Zhao, who won six Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director with NOMADLAND, again captivates audiences with her latest period drama. Teaming up with Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, she creates a richly imaginative and deeply moving story of love and loss between William and Agnes Shakespeare. Rewriting the canon from the perspective of a woman deeply attuned to the natural world, the film focuses on pivotal moments in the couple's life: the grief and pain of losing their son to plague may have inspired one of the greatest fictional tragedies ever written - Hamlet.
